The following wedding was a morning ceremony which provided shade for guests.
Lawn 1 – with greenery backdrop
As the sun sets over the city, some couples having late afternoon weddings opt for this backdrop with the chairs side on to the river, to avoid guests squinting from the sun during the ceremony.
Pure Love package with white acrylic plinths – Lower River Terrace – Lawn 1
This wedding ceremony opted for 54 guest chairs, in a curved setting so all guests could be comfortably seated throughout the ceremony. Our white acrylic plinths were adorned with fresh flowers by the couples Florist A&T Blooms.

The areas are well suited to both small, medium and larger weddings, and more than one lawn can be booked to accommodate a ceremony on one lawn, followed by post ceremony refreshments or wedding cocktail hour on an adjacent lawn, as the below wedding choose to do.

This simple and elegant wedding set up with our white aisle pillars and white and ivory dried florals was set up diagonally to the left side of the lawn, to soften the brightness of the sunset for guests.
Tips for Couples Planning a Kangaroo Point Wedding
1. Book professionals directly – For the best experience, we recommend booking your favourite Lower River Terrace lawn directly through Brisbane City Council and engaging our expert wedding styling and setup services (or the Stylist of your choice).
While there are local venues that may offer to book the lawn and provide a ceremony setup for you, these packages often come at a premium rate and with their speciality being a venue (not ceremony styling), they may not deliver the level of styling and attention to detail you deserve. By booking the lawn yourself and choosing a dedicated professional styling team, you’ll enjoy a wider selection of decor options, beautifully presented with clean seats in neat rows, tailored to your choice of backdrop.
This is not only more cost-effective but also ensures your ceremony space is styled professionally to a high standard, without compromising on quality or choice.
2. Consider the Sun – For mid-late afternoon weddings, where the sun is setting over the river, consider the comfort of guests. If you would prefer the river backdrop but have concerns about the sun glare, perhaps you could treat guests to fun sunglasses placed on their chairs on arrival.
Alternatively, morning ceremonies followed by lunch time reception celebrations are a lovely option when sun glare isn’t a factor.
3. Nearby Reception Venues – If you’re looking for Kangaroo Point reception venues, close to Lower River Terrace, these are the venues our couple’s rate!
Within walking distance:
Joeys – Directly above the Lower River Terrace Riverfront lawns via an admittedly steep set of stairs (or a very short drive or Uber if the steps are a little much) is Joeys where the spectacular views continue from the top of the cliff.
Medley – Alternatively, around the corner on the other side of Kangaroo Point is the lovely Medley restaurant. This riverside dining destination is known for its global cuisine, scenic views, and relaxed atmosphere. It’s also wheelchair friendly.
Fun idea – A previous wedding we styled at a Lower River Terrace lawn, held their reception at Medley and booked several ‘Pedi-cabs’ to escort guests that needed a little assistance with the journey, adding the fun element of a scenic river cycle.
Eagle Street Pier & Brisbane City Restaurants – Alternatively, now that the Kangaroo Point pedestrian Bridge is open, it’s an easy and beautiful walk across the bridge to reach your favourite restaurant on Eagle Street or Brisbane City.

The City Skyline Outlook at the Kangaroo Cliffs Park on River Terrace (a short stroll along from the Cafe) is another breath taking and less known about Kangaroo Point wedding site.
Located on a highly elevated corner on top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, the City Skyline Outlook boasts sweeping views of the Brisbane River, the lush tree canopy of Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens, through to the towering buildings in the CBD, giving the backdrop an urban edge.

With the Story Bridge and Brisbane’s winding river in the backdrop, weddings don’t get much more ‘Brisbane’ than Captain Burke Park in Kangaroo Point.
Quieter than many of Brisbane’s inner-city parks, with a large spacious grassed area, Captain Burke Park has several shade providing poinciana trees of varying ages, dotted throughout the park and along the riverside.
We love the bridge backdrop at Captain Burke Park for wedding ceremonies.
